Write a short, subject-verb sentence.
Example: Skunks smell.
Look through the newspaper for words to add to the sentence. Now stretch the sentence by writing “Skunks” and “smell” farther apart. Add words before, between and after to make the sentence more interesting.
Example: The shy skunk was easily startled and released a stinky smell.
Write three sentences that could extend these subject-verb sentences:
- Reindeer play.
- Keys lock.
- Mushrooms grow.
